Types of B+W UV Haze Filter

It comes to our attention that many people ask the similar question from time to time about different types of B+W UV filter.  They also question if some of them are fake.

Here we took some pictures of  four types of B+W UV filters to compare each other.  They are all genuine and original from Schneider Germany.



Filters here from top to bottom or from left to right are:

B+W 77mm XS-PRO MRC UV 010M

B+W 77mm MRC UV 010M Brass

B+W 77mm MRC UV 010M Alloy

B+W 77mm UV010 Alloy

The differences of these four filters:

1.  #1058460, XS-PRO is the newest generation of B+W filter line comes with a couple of new features:

  • a.  Filter mount is SLIM type called XS-PRO, which means slim mount with front thread.  Material of XS-PRO mount is made of brass.
  • b.  Coating is the new generation of B+W Digital MRC.  It is more suitable for the latest CCD/CMOS technology.
  • c.  Optical glass is thinner, which is 1.2mm from Schott.  So more light can go through and less reflection it will be
  • d.  Made in Germany

  • d.  Only “Germany” is printed on the rim.  So we assume it may not be made in Germany 100%

A laser sticker in green color is labeled at the back of the filter carton box starting from early of this year.  One angle you will see “B+W Filter” and the other angle you will see “genuine product”.  If you can not see this label, it would be either old stock or fake. [update: from 09/22/2009, all B+W Filters from MAXSAVER will have the laser sticker] For safety we would recommend you buy from our store http://maxsaver.net.  We guarantee B+W Filter here are 100% genuine and original in brand new condition.
